This week, the Epic Games Store brings us The Escapists developed by Mouldy Toof Studios, and The Wolf Among Us developed by Telltale Games.
#1 – The Escapists
The Escapists, released in 2014, is a sandbox strategy game based around escaping a prison through multiple different methods, the game gives a large array of options to escape the prisons, with each one having a unique theme, and each of them becoming more difficult as the game progresses.
The gameplay of The Escapists is brilliantly crafted, each prison has multiple routes of escape. You can trade with other prisoners, pick up tips from guards, find items while doing jobs and more. Players can exercise or go to the library to increase stats like speed, strength and intelligence to unlock other paths that may not have been available earlier. Every character in each prison is also customisable so you can rename characters to have names of your friends, or depending on your playstyle; enemies.
#2 – The Wolf Among US
The Wolf Among Us, developed by Telltale Games, is based on the comic series Fables written by Bill Willingham. The game focuses on the character Bigby Wolf (the infamous Big Bad Wolf), who is now the sheriff of Fabletown, a community cut off from the rest of the world acting as a refugee town for mythical creatures. However one night, a mysterious murder case arises for Bigby to solve, leading him further down the rabbit hole…
The game follows the usual gameplay loop of most Telltale Games, consisting of making choices and quick-time events to progress through the game. However, The Wolf Among Us really shines through it’s characters, and the dark humour through the game sets the game apart from the other Telltale Games.
If you want a game to sit down and sink some time into, both of these games are perfect, The Escapists is great for someone who wants to test their brain with some really good puzzles, The Wolf Among Us is brilliant for anyone who wants to relax and play a story driven game.
