Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was released in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. It was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. This is an action-adventure video game. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas definitely lived up to the genera of action-adventure, as you travel through San Andreas causing total destruction to make the Grove Street Family great again. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas also has an amazing storyline with and endless amounts of twists.

Throughout the years Grand Theft Auto San Andreas has been ported over to different platforms such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and in 2015 it was added to the Xbox One Backward Compatible library. This shows the game has continued to stay relevant in recent time.

A Little Backstory To The Game…

Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas… a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it’s the early 90s. Carl’s got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Why Is This Still Playable In 2019?

The main reason to ever wanting to play a 2004 game in 2019 is to relive the amazing storyline. Back in 2004, I remember playing this game for the first time and thinking the graphics where super realistic and it was the best video game ever… which at the time was true. The only downside of playing San Andreas in 2019 is the poor quality of graphics for today’s standards, however, there are plenty of mods that can improve the graphics.

I recently did a start to finish playthrough of San Andreas and I was blown away to how good the action-adventure mechanics are. Driving and shooting in San Andreas feel so smooth and rewarding. Compared to Grand Theft Auto V’s shooting mechanics, it feels like you need to shoot someone 50 times before they blink. Whereas, in San Andreas, it has more a realistic 1 shot headshot or 3-4 to the body before putting the enemy down.

The driving in San Andreas is super fun! You can drive freely and the speeds you can achieve with a tractor is insane. Even the AI in this game is great (sometimes), I have never experienced an AI driver pull out on me and destroying my car however, in GTA V this is a common problem.

If you are looking to play a game with a great storyline that will take you a good few hours to complete then this is the game for you. For keyboard users, the controls can be a bit hard to understand at first however this game is easy to get used to.
