Destiny 2 New Light is a full fledged version of Destiny 2 which allows players to play the game free of charge. It is not a trial or demo of the game and it will not be available for a limited time, it looks like it is here to stay. So what are the drawbacks? What is the catch? Well in this guide we’re going to be talking a bit more about what the game is, how it plays and what you should be expecting in terms of limitations.
What is Destiny 2 New Light?
Destiny 2 New Light is a free-to-play version for new Destiny fans. It’s not Like mentioned previously it is not a limited time offer, trial or a restricted demo version of the game. It’s a all new free version of the full game. It will primarily focus on content released before Shadow keep. This is one of the major expansions for Destiny 2. New light will allow players to sample a lot of Destiny 2 activities and locations. The good part of this is that you will be able to play with your buddies, without spending a penny.
What platform will I be able to play this game on?
You will be able to dive right into your adventure on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Destiny 2 cross save will be a feature in New Light as well, so if you start playing on say, PS4 and decide to move to PC, you’ll be able to play with all of your guardians and saved content that you started originally on the PS4. This is amazing news, as for people who game at multiple locations a lot may want to use this feature instead of travelling alongside their gaming platform.
What content isn’t included in Destiny 2 New Light?
New Light comes with a metric f*** ton of content that we would see in the regular version of Destiny but not quite everything. You will be able to enjoy 100% of the Year 1 content. Year 2 however has restricted some content in this version and New Light players will only be able to enjoy parts of it. Story content from Forsaken and the Annual Pass will not be available in New Light, neither are end-game to-do’s such as raids and the Shattered Throne dungeon. Lots of weapons and exotics are excluded from New Light. Most of the content in Destiny 2: Shadow keep is also not included in this version.
Oh no, how will I be able to play the missing content?
Not to worry! All content will be available for purchase if you decide that you want to play it later on down the line. The Forsaken content and the annual pass will set you back £25. Shadow keep content will cost £35. Any of the content that will come out in the future as everyone knows will be available through the Destiny 2 season pass and is available for £10/Mo.
