In this article, we will be discussing the latest trailer drop by PlayersUnkown Battlegrounds. It is a very dark trailer that suggests that PUBG might be dropping a ‘story mode’ or introducing a storyline to battle royal. If you haven’t checked out our latest blog posts I recommend you check them out now!
PUBG is one of the first huge battle-royal games to introduce a story to the game, which is very rare for battle-royals. The PUBG developers have released a trailer giving some insight into the lore of PlayerUnknown’s Battleground.
The trailer starts off with a scared young boy in Erangel, which is PUBG’s first map. The boy is one of the few survivors of Erangel, in what looks like a war scene. The boy watches others get slaughtered by soldiers. It then skips time for a while and shows the boy as a grown man. The man looks quite wealthy and it seems that he is in charge of hosting battle royal tournaments on Erangel.
This gives the backstory of battle-royal in PUBG. However, this might suggest in the future that the developers might intro a story mode for a singleplayer spin-off. This would give PUBG a bigger fan base because we gamers love lore.
