Xbox game pass is a service that comes in 3 different tiers. It allows Xbox one and PC players to subscribe for a monhtly fee, prices will vary depending on which tier you choose and what benefits you will recieve.Essentially it is a service that gives you access to a vast library of games for a monthly fee. Similar to the likes of EA Access.
Pricing & tiers
Xbox Game pass comes in three different tiers:
Ultimate – With a cost of £10.99/mo with a starting price of just £1. The Ultimate edition of the game pass offers the following. Unlimited access to over 100 high-quality console and PC games, with new titles added frequently. Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere and an exclusive members discount, similar to what PS Plus members get on the PS store. You also get an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Members also recieve 6 months of Spotify premium subscription. This translates between PC and Xbox as well allowing members of the ultimate plan to switch between their preferred platform with ease.
PC – With a monthly cost of £7.99 (ATM the cost is just £3.99) /Mo and an initial cost of £1. The PC edition of the game pass is for PC and not Xbox and offers the following features. Unlimited access to over 100 high-quality PC games with new titles added frequently. Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere with exclusive member discounts just like in the Ultimate plan. Members will also recieve a 6 month plan of Spotify premium.
Console – With a monthly cost of £7.99/Mo the console edition does not offer the intial £1 sign up offer and is actually currently more expensive than the PC edition. The console edition offers the following. Unlimited access to over 100 high-quality console games with new titles added frequently just like in the other 2 plans. Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere with an exclusive members discount, similar to the ultimate and PC plans however, this plan does not offer a 6 month Spotify premium subscription.
Which tier should I purchase?
In my opinion the ultimate tier is not that much more expensive than the console deal and it also offers Xbox Live Gold and Spotify premium. if you’re an Xbox player then you should defintley consider opting into this option instead of the lower tier console edition.
However if you’re exclusively a PC player and aren’t too bothered about the extra upgrades that the ultimate tier offers, then the PC eidition seems like a sweet enough deal as it only costs £3.99/Mo.
It’s completely up to you though, let us know what you will be purchasing.
The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds is a brand new action RPG developed by Obsidian entertainment, it is a highly anticipated title and is actually available on the Game pass. Meaning that you could purchase one month of the game pass and rock out in this brand new title for a month and then cancel your plan.
This being one of the many exclusive titles available in the game pass, you should really consider buying into this pass now. If you’re the type of person that plays lots of titles the pass will benefit you greatly. If you’re the type of person who plays one game infrequently then you may just be better off buying the game outright.
Xbox Game Pass V EA Access
Which one is better? Which one has the better games? What is the difference in pricing? Well the Xbox Game Pass has a vastly bigger library than EA Access, however EA access does contain the Battlefield series of games which is a fan favourite among many. So if you’re wanting to dupe it out in battlefield 1 or 4 then the EA Access pass may be for you.
With both passes’ having a starting price of £3.99/Mo it’s really up to you which one you would like to buy, I would personally go with the Xbox Game Pass due to the bigger library of games.
